Stencils for dotting techniques. Stencils for spot painting: for glass products (glasses, bottles, plates), ceramics, boxes, description of materials required for spot painting, video instructions for applying patterns

These contours have thin noses and this is very important. There are 6 colors in the set.

But the set does not include Copper. I buy it separately.

Other paints in the set are usually sold separately as well.
And also, in some works, I use Gamma paints - Copper with sparkles and Gold with sparkles. The noses there are quite thick, but they are suitable for these colors.

I know that there are contours for glass and ceramics from PEBEO and IDEA, but they are not found in our area and I cannot say anything about them...

The first thing to do is to prepare the surface to be painted - wash with dishwashing detergent, dry and degrease with alcohol or vodka. Don’t put the vodka far away in the future - creative person You can’t do without vodka!))) - during the work, hand marks will remain on the glass and we will remove them with a swab soaked in vodka. If you degrease the glass poorly, the paint may not adhere well.

You can practice on a regular glass, which you don’t mind))

We learn to place dots by lightly pressing on the tube. We try to ensure that not only the points are the same size, but also the distance between them

It turns out? Now we try to put small points

Now we are trying to draw a curved line.

That, in general, is all the wisdom! All that remains is to fill your hand. Drawing stripes is boring, so I suggest drawing a floral pattern

Please note that you need to alternate dots of different sizes - then the drawing will not look monotonous. And we continue

And I do some work on primed glass. The primer is stained glass paint. And then the finished work might look like this

.............

I would like to primarily address this master class to beginners in the point-to-point technique, and to everyone interested in this technique.
I took as a basis a generalized oriental motif, in which there is a figure of a heart as a symbol of life, a traditional hexagonal star and droplets - a symbol of purity. I never learned to draw, so I took the base for the plate from the Internet (unfortunately, I don’t know the author of this ornament) Here’s the base

The main thing is to always remember that we don’t just want to copy some drawing, but we need a foundation that we will fill with colors and soul.
Prepare a plate for work. First, degrease it well and dry it.
In order to transfer the design to the plate, I used my favorite carbon copy method. I secured the carbon paper with the drawing using stationery clips and began to trace the outline of the drawing. I do this with a pen so that I can definitely see what has already been circled and what has not.

After removing the carbon paper, we get faint black lines on the plate. The main thing is to be vigilant - the carbon mark is not durable, so you don’t need to rub it vigorously with your hands, otherwise it will erase very well. The downside of this mark is that there is dirt on your hand, so you can put a napkin under your hand when working

When drawing using the point-to-point technique, the most important thing in my opinion is steadiness of the hands. Because I am right-handed, then in my case the position of my hands looks like this. Both elbows are on the table. The left hand is located under the bottom of the plate, which allows you to scroll it when applying a design without touching the design itself. The right hand holds the outline at approximately a 45-degree angle to the surface of the plate, plus resting the edge of the palm on the very edge of the plate for additional stability.

Before making a dot outline, I advise you to take a napkin and try to make a dot on it. This way you can understand the thickness of the contour, whether the spout is clogged, and at the same time, if you accidentally pressed hard on the contour and get a fat point, save the plate. If everything is satisfactory, we begin to apply the drawing from the center. Everything is simple here; it is more difficult to smear the pattern in the center with your hand than if it is on the edges.

Once we have made the center, we move on to drawing the middle. Carefully place dots along the contour lines. The closer they are to each other, the more interesting it will look in the end. The outline is the main part that will allow you to see in which direction the drawing itself should go next, and + we will save ourselves from erasing the carbon copy mark

By analogy with the bronze contour, we apply a blue contour. After creating the middle base, let's stop and see if everything suits us. If not, then with the sharp edge of a toothpick you can remove the dots you don’t like (this can only be done when the dots are fresh). If the outline is dry, you can remove the lines with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol or acetone (water leaves a mark)

Stencils for dot painting It is very convenient to use in creativity, especially for those who do not know how to draw, but want to create beautiful things with their own hands. Ready-made stencils can be purchased at the store or you can make them yourself by cutting them out of paper or plastic. Drawings for stencils can be taken both from the Internet and from books, for example, coloring books. Stencils of patterns, flowers and butterflies are suitable for dot painting. The more lines, the better, since the dots need to cover the entire drawing.

For beginners, we offer several visual master classes on dot painting using stencils.

Let's start with the basics

Spot painting can be used on any items from various materials. With special contour paints you can do spot painting on glass, leather, wood, ceramics, etc.

Let's look at how you can paint a bottle, plate, glasses and box using a stencil.

First of all, you need to prepare the following materials and tools:

  • contour paints in tubes of any colors;
  • liquid for degreasing surfaces (glass or ceramic), for example, alcohol or nail polish remover;
  • a prepared picture or a ready-made cut out stencil;
  • scotch;
  • cotton swabs to remove excess paint and correct mistakes;
  • needle for cleaning the tube.

There is no need for brushes, since the paint is applied in contours and dots directly from the tube spout.

It is worth noting that the diameter of the point depends on the force of pressure on the tube: the stronger and longer the pressure, the larger the point.

Before work, it is recommended to practice placing dots of different sizes at equal distances on paper. You can try to draw a simple geometric pattern, a circle, a wave. It is necessary to ensure that the points do not merge into one line, but also do not look scattered.

Painting a ceramic or glass plate is easier than other objects, since the surface of the plate is usually relatively flat and smooth. If you plan to use the plate for its intended purpose, then it is better to take a glass one and paint on the outside. On ceramic plate In any case, painting is done from the inside. If this plate is intended for food, it must be coated with a special acrylic varnish in several layers to protect the painting from water and mechanical stress.

A plate made of any material - ceramics, glass, wood - can be used as decoration. It can be painted from any convenient side. As a rule, such plates are very flat, without raised sides.

Progress:

  1. Degrease the surface of the plate;

  1. Select a stencil with a round pattern according to the size of the plate and secure it with tape;

  1. Start painting along the contours of the drawing, placing dots on long distance from each other (will serve as a guide);

  1. Let the paint dry and peel off the stencil;
  1. Add dots to the drawing, changing their size and color;

  1. Leave the finished craft to dry;

  1. Coat with acrylic varnish if necessary.

Stencils for plates can be like this:

Decorating bottles is a popular activity among novice craftsmen. Finding an unnecessary glass bottle is not difficult, and there is plenty of room for imagination here.

Dot painting can be one of the ways to decorate a bottle, or it can be an addition to other types of decoration. For example, a bottle can be painted acrylic paints, and do the finishing with dot painting. Or you can use colored dots to create decoupage.

Small stencils depicting vegetation or simple patterns are suitable for painting glasses. You can also draw a sketch by hand. If contour drawings are used, they must be secured on the inside of the glass with tape or tape.

When the template is well secured, you should begin painting, guided by the lines of the drawing.

Spot painting on glasses can be used as an additional decoration for a picture made with acrylic paints.

Second option

The boxes are somewhat more difficult to paint, since all sides and edges need to be processed. This may take some time, but the result will definitely please you.

It is not necessary to take the box directly for painting. It can be any tin or wooden box with a lid. Beautiful and original painting will help transform a simple box into a real box.

Progress:

  1. Make a stencil to size. It is necessary to select round, square or rectangular patterns for the lid and walls of the box. Then the pattern is transferred to a plastic corner folder and carefully cut out with a stationery knife.

  1. Attach the finished stencil to the box and mark the contours of the design elements with rare dots. Let the paint dry and remove the stencil.

  1. Proceed with spot painting, focusing on the designated points. It is advisable to fill the pattern with dots in different colors.

Painting is a pattern applied using a specific technique and style on various items of decorative and applied art. One of simple types painting is dot painting. For beginning artists, you can practice on paper before painting objects. Dot painting is a scattering of drops along the contour of the design, collecting the image like a mosaic of beads or rhinestones.

A dot pattern can be made using varnishes, paints applied to a thin stick, or a pencil. But of course the easiest way to apply a design is with durable acrylic paints, especially since these days paints can be purchased in a special tube with a cone tip, sold under the name contour. It was originally intended for painting on glass, to limit spreading stained glass paints. It produces dotted “rhinestones” mainly on glass, plastic and other smooth and hard surfaces.

Contours on dishes

Painting objects with dots has its own sequence in work. To learn how to make beautiful things using this technique, we will conduct a short master class and at the end we will provide several pattern diagrams.

So, first of all, we select the surface that we will paint.

Usually they paint dishes, bottles, cups, plates, boxes, figures, plastic surfaces of computer accessories, keyboards and mice, laptop covers, leather surfaces of passport covers and so on.

Before starting work, the surface must be degreased with a cotton swab containing alcohol or ordinary wet wipes. It is most convenient to work with glass, because on the reverse side you can attach a sketch of a drawing on paper and draw along the lines.

For example, MK "Painting glasses for a wedding."

We will need ordinary glasses, tracing paper, a pen, cotton pads and swabs, contour paint for glass and ceramics.

A pattern is drawn on tracing paper and secured to the inside of the walls with water or tape. Apply drops along the contours of the pattern.

You can draw arbitrarily on opaque surfaces, and in order to achieve the correct geometric shapes, you need to carefully draw lines manually or using stencils, cutting out the desired patterns from paper, be it a straight line or a bend, and attaching them with tape. Now you can paint along the edges.

If your product will have patterns with repeating fragments, then the use of stencils and templates is mandatory; prepare the necessary forms in advance.

Spot painting with contours can be combined with lines and other ready-made designs. Cover the entire space or just some part of the item. Frame it with a frame, make a background for a central item, or give it volume.

Drawing errors are corrected with cotton pads, swabs moistened with alcohol or wet wipes.

Drawing styles

The use of paintings in different styles gives an ordinary item a certain theme. This is very convenient if you are creating a special interior design for your home. Interestingly, the most famous styles and ornaments were historically created by folk craftsmen and housewives of various territories, and now every corner of the world has its own business card, in the form of colors and patterns. Let's take a short trip through the world of ornaments.

Use elements of Slavic folk ornaments in your works. There are many types of paintings with a specific technique and color scheme. You can create a set of dishes in a certain design style, using fragments of patterns that have been established in history. Use their embroidery patterns in your work.

Using this technique of drawing and applying ethnic patterns, you can create dishes and other household items in an Oriental or African interior style.

Spot painting can also be done with ordinary acrylic paints with brushes, but such drawings can be done by experienced craftsmen.

Very often they use painting of stones with mandala or drawings of animals. Such stones are used as a talisman and amulet in the home and serve as decoration.

Nowadays, making decorative interior elements with your own hands has become very popular. Picturesque plates are especially common. They can decorate the interior of the living room, kitchen, hallway. Will bring special comfort to country house. Painting can be used to decorate dishes, mirrors, various accessories, and to give a unique ornament to a teapot. This is also a good gift for your family and friends.

There are several types of painting on dishes:

  • Tiffany - a similar technique allows you to get the effect of a three-dimensional pattern.
  • Khokhloma is a very popular painting, done in black, red and gold colors.
  • Zhostovo - the main motifs are flower bouquets.
  • Dotted - a drawing is created using dots.
  • Gzhel - simple drops, meshes, flowers, lines. Made in blue tones on a white background.
  • Mezenskaya - rhombuses, crosses, discs are made in black and red colors.
  • Inscriptions - simple words, phrases, lines and so on.
  • Geometric patterns are a design consisting of many shapes and lines.
  • The whole composition is landscapes and still lifes.

The Russian folk style includes Gzhel, Khokhloma, Zhostovo and Mezen paintings. Wood products are painted in the Khokhloma style.

Petrikov painting is popular in Ukraine. Floral patterns occupy a special place in the technique: roses, cornflowers, dahlias, asters and other flowers. In this style, Ukrainians painted the walls of houses, stoves, dishes, and clothes. Each nation has its own national painting, which is unlike others.

Origin of the painting

Let's take a closer look at dot painting. It appeared in ancient times. Initially, the dot was used in coinage as a means and basis for the design. This technique was used by residents of Persia and India, Thailand and Africa. The Australian Aborigines also used a similar technique to transmit messages from generation to generation. In such messages they conveyed history, their way of life, victories and defeats.

And nowadays, body painting with henna is popular in many countries, such as Africa and India. The formed dot painting has survived to this day, which allows you to perform light, elegant and beautiful drawings. Using the dot painting technique, you can decorate dishes, clothes, shoes, and interior items. Plates, glasses, bottles decorated in a similar way look beautiful. Creating decorative elements decorated with patterns of dots is a fun activity that does not require special knowledge. To create a masterpiece you need to follow the recommendations. Let's look at dot painting for beginners.

The rule for drawing the contours of an ornament lies in the very name of the technique: the pattern is made up of a set of points located next to each other. An individual dot can have different sizes and colors. To obtain a clear pattern, use a pre-drawn sketch, or you can download ready-made diagrams stencils for dot painting with contours from the Internet . It's better to start drawing on simple things that you are not afraid to spoil.

Necessary materials

When choosing paints for creativity, decide on what surface they will be applied. Otherwise, the pattern will not last long, and all your work will be lost. The following paints should be used for painting:

Also, paints are water-based, which can be easily washed off with water, and indelible, organic-based - they can be removed from the surface only with solvents such as white spirit.

There are also two types of paints:

  • Overglaze - a mixture of pigments with fusible glass. They are applied to glazed dishes.
  • Underglaze - a mixture of pigments with glaze. They are used to decorate unglazed surfaces.

Depending on the result you want to get, choose glossy or matte, translucent or opaque paints. To obtain convex dots and “pearls” it is convenient to use 3D gels.

To degrease the surface, you will need alcohol or nail polish remover.

You will also need acrylic primer or any paint to create a background: acrylic, stained glass, automotive or gouache.

You will also need acrylic varnish to cover the product after applying paints.

Drawing process

The outline should be placed vertically, held in your hands like a pen.

We bring a tube of paint To to the right place on the product and lightly press it with your fingers. A droplet will appear on the spout, connecting to the surface of the object.

The spout does not touch the surface to be decorated. This allows you to put the same points.

As soon as the point has reached the desired size, we stop putting pressure on the tube. And we tear off the contour from the product in a vertical position.

In a similar way, we work out the entire sketch with contours by forming chains of dots.

Dot painting looks good on plates and bottles. Let's take a step-by-step look at making a painted plate.

Before work, you should carefully work out the sketch, which can be transferred with a pencil to a previously degreased product. If you cannot draw yourself, then use diagrams and templates from the Internet. Round ornaments, mandalas for coloring, and so on are well suited for plates. Choose the pattern you like and print it out. Next, determine your color palette. Required for operation a small number of colors, do not overdo it in the selection, it is enough to choose 1-4 shades. Their choice depends on your imagination and the chosen pattern.

For the first works, it is better to use a transparent glass plate as a base. Before decorating, thoroughly degrease the surface. We place the sketch under the plate and secure it with tape. Before you start painting the product, practice creating contours on paper, decide on the pressure on the tube so that the dots are neat. And only after that start decorating the plate.

We start working from the center of the drawing, gradually working out the outline. If you are working with several contours, then you need to first work on everything with one color, let it dry, and only then start working with a different color. First we draw large elements, then move on to small details. Gradually, dot to dot, you get a picture. When creating lines, maintain a minimum gap between the points so that they are readable, but do not turn into one continuous line.

After painting Allow the paints time to dry, then cover with a layer of varnish to secure the design.

Since we had a transparent plate, it was time to choose a background. We take paper of different colors and put it under the plate, decide on the background. When the background paint is prepared, treat the back of the plate with alcohol. Apply paint along the glass from the edges to the center until the surface becomes smooth. Leave to dry and then varnish.

If you are painting an opaque plate, then first apply the background to a previously degreased surface. Then you mark the future drawing and only after that apply the dots.

Glass painting

Dot painting can decorate glasses, bottles, vases, creating unique and inimitable interior items. To decorate them, airy, light ornaments in the form of curls are used.

The technique of applying dots when painting glasses is the same as for plates. Draw a sketch on a piece of paper, or if you wish, you can cut out any design you like. Attach with tape to the inside of the glass. We select colors. We degrease the surface of the glass and begin to apply dots along the contour of the design. After applying the outline, let the paint dry. Then we gradually fill the drawing with another color. After the glass has dried, apply colorless acrylic varnish over the design. The unique glass is ready. A similar technique can be used to make wedding glasses. In this case, an entertaining hobby can be a way additional income. Products self made are expensive.

To paint on a bottle, you need to get rid of the labels. It is convenient to use flat-shaped bottles. Thoroughly degrease the surface and, if you are not satisfied with the color of the bottle, then apply background paint or primer. Then they draw the drawing in pencil and begin painting with paints.

When working with contour paints, do not forget to clean the elongated plastic spout from dried paint; this can be done conveniently with a sewing needle. If you open a new tube of contour, test it on a small piece of glass. And see how the drop behaves. Sometimes it is necessary to put a fresh circuit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before working. It will become thicker and will not spread.

Oriental patterns

Oriental patterns look expressive on ceramic and glass surfaces. The tradition of decorating dishes first appeared in the East in Persia. At that time, the ornament was applied not only as decoration, but also as a talisman. And all the elements made on the products had a certain meaning.

The traditions of painting have been preserved to this day, and colorful patterns on multi-colored dishes can always tell something. For example, a beautiful flower in the center represents the sun; circles - the cycle in nature; triangles are a talisman against the evil eye. Items decorated with patterns will create a special oriental atmosphere and will be a good addition to any interior. They fit perfectly into any stylistic decisions. Oriental patterns have some features:

  • Rhythm.
  • Repeatability of elements.
  • Abstract forms and stylized objects act as individual elements.
  • The most used elements: rosettes, cones, birds, Turkish cucumber.
  • The main feature of oriental patterns is the carpet filling of the surface. There are no free spaces on the surface of products painted in this way.

If you're having trouble coming up with a pattern, then the following can be used as patterns for painting:

  • Interesting patterns on fabrics, made in different styles.
  • Patterns for cross stitch and mosaic weaving with beads.
  • Crocheted openwork napkins and knitting patterns.
  • Ethnic patterns and ornaments. You can find them in books and print the pattern yourself.
  • Cards and napkins for decoupage.

Even a child can do this kind of painting. He will be able to make simple patterns on his own, and more complex patterns - under the supervision of adults. This activity develops the child’s fine motor skills, perseverance, and attentiveness well. It also brings together adults and children, which is very important nowadays. The child can be trusted to cut out the sketch.

Everything described above will allow you to create real works of art in a single copy.

The most beautiful things are obtained only by combining such components as inspiration and craftsmanship. Interior items decorated with dot painting are a striking example of this. Spectacular panels, original installations, decorated dot pattern, can become a real “highlight” of the kitchen interior, acting as a worthy addition to any design. And creating such decorative elements is a fascinating activity in itself. To master this easy-to-use, but quite original technique, we suggest taking two dot painting master classes for beginners as a basis.

The “point to point” technique was originally used in Rus' to create coinage. Later it became known as “drip”: paint was simply collected into straws and “dropped” onto the image. Today, dot painting, which incorporates the techniques of graphics, mosaics and stained glass, captivates more and more people with its ease of execution, grace and beauty of design.

This popular look technique is also known as “point-to-point”

The principle of drawing the contours of an ornament lies in the very name of the technique: the design is created as a result of a combination of many points. Each of them can have a different color and size. Yes, and they can be applied in different colors.

Simplicity is the main advantage of dot painting

Anyone can create their own masterpiece, even if they have never held an artistic brush in their hands and have no idea how to draw correctly.

Spot painting is the easiest way to breathe new “life” into old souvenirs or accessories that have lost their appeal over time.

The application technique is determined by the shape of the item being decorated and the material from which it is made. Using this technique, you can decorate any surface: dishes and kitchen utensils, boxes and passport covers, laptop and phone cases.

Subtleties of choosing materials for painting

Using in work different kinds paints, you can decorate cutlery, tableware and any other interior items. For painting on dishes, it is better to choose paints that are characterized by increased moisture resistance and light sensitivity.

When choosing paints for decoration, consider the type of surface on which they will be applied. Otherwise, the pattern you create will not last long on the item. Painting can be done using the following types of paints:

  • Clay objects - paints for ceramics and glass. They are also called contour paints. They are sold in small tubes with an elongated spout.
  • Metal accessories – with enamel paints. Jewelry decorated with enamel is distinguished by durability, brightness and purity of colors.
  • Textile products - “fabric” acrylic. Contours for applying patterns to clothing are less resistant to abrasion.

Tip: when purchasing paints, test the tubes, paying attention to the thickness of the composition. To determine the consistency, press the tube: the paint should not come out too easily, forming a puddle, but it should not be too difficult to squeeze out.

Paints for painting are:

  • water-based - they are easily washed off with water;
  • on organic - removed from the surface only with a solvent such as white spirit.

To paint surfaces in contact with food, you should use special paints that must be fired at a temperature of 600-800°C. It is impossible to use such paints at home. For these purposes, craftswomen choose self-hardening paints. They harden without firing within 2 days. But such circuits are less resistant to influence detergents. Dishes painted with self-hardening acrylic paints require more careful handling.

There are two types of paints for painting dishes:

  • Overglaze - a mixture of pigments with fusible glass. They are applied to glazed dishes.
  • Underglaze - a mixture of pigments with glaze. They are used to decorate unglazed surfaces. A transparent overglaze layer, which makes the dishes shiny, is applied on top of the design.

Depending on what effect you plan to achieve, choose paints: those that form a matte or glossy finish, translucent stained glass and opaque opaque compositions. To create volumetric dots and “pearls” it is convenient to use 3D gels.

Key points when painting dishes

Point-to-point is a rather demanding type of creativity. After all, the presentability of the product depends on the perseverance of the craftsman and the accuracy of the work. This technique does not tolerate slowness and negligence.

Painting dishes, be it decorative plates or elegant vases, using dotting techniques includes a number of main stages:

  1. Preparing the base. The surface of the object is degreased with alcohol or nail polish remover.
  2. Applying the background. The background of the desired shade is applied to the prepared base with any paint: gouache, acrylic, automotive, stained glass. It is convenient to use acrylic primer for this purpose: when applied thickly, it gives a cloudy white tint.
  3. Marking the future drawing. It is better to come up with a design in advance, but even if you start improvising, you will certainly get a wonderful pattern.
  4. Creating a drawing. By alternately applying dots of the selected color and size, an ornament is created.

Master class: dot painting of a glass bottle

Spot painting can transform any objects, making them original decorative elements. Using this technique, you can easily turn an inconspicuous glass bottle into an amazing vessel or an unusual flower vase.

The main thing is to choose the texture and color palette of paints so that the accessory you create organically fits into the design of the room.

Selection of materials and tools

To make an original vessel you will need:

  • Glass bottle;
  • degreaser;
  • universal primer;
  • acrylic paints for painting on glass;
  • flat wide synthetic brush.
  • aerosol varnish to protect and secure the design.

When choosing a glass shade, keep in mind that dot painting looks most impressive on dark surfaces

To apply painting on dishes, it is convenient to use flat-shaped glass bottles. Background paint is applied to them only if you are not satisfied with the shade or transparency of the product.

Preparation of the glass base

The bottle is cleaned of labels and thoroughly degreased alcohol-containing liquid. Apply the primer composition with a wide brush, distributing it evenly over the surface.

You can take a pattern for decorating a bottle from the Internet, looking for ideas on thematic forums, or come up with it yourself. To make the pattern even and symmetrical, a strip of notebook sheet is fixed to the outer walls of the bottle using tape. The width of the stripe will determine the size of the pattern. In the proposed version, the pattern will be 13 cells wide.

Draw the center line of the pattern along the edge of the glued sheet.

Application of basic patterns

Start painting the bottle. Along the upper edge of the sheet, a strip of several points of the same size is applied with an acrylic outline. When working with a contour, the tube must be held vertically. Thanks to this, the dots are even and symmetrical.

Tip: blots and inaccuracies that often arise when applying dots can be easily eliminated using a sanitary stick soaked in alcohol.

The sheet cells will help you work out the distance between points and create an even line

To create smooth semicircles and curves of the pattern, use stencil templates. You can make them yourself by cutting out a blank of the required size from the same sheet of paper. To determine the size of the semicircles, you need to divide the circumference of the bottle by the number of elements.

Tip: do not forget to degrease the surface again from time to time using a cloth soaked in alcohol, since fingerprints will appear on the glass again during the painting process.

Applying the template to the glass, make an outline of small dots

Painting the framing contours

To obtain ornate openwork patterns, dots are applied in different sizes, alternating them with each other.

When drawing hearts and flowers, feel free to give free rein to your imagination

When creating new elements of the ornament, the stencil of the required size is again cut out and outlines of the future contour are made on it.

The points marked according to the template are “directed” with an acrylic outline

If small details of a pattern can be done “by eye,” then when painting large elements with acrylic paints, you cannot do without templates.

The bottle can be painted with paint until the entire surface is covered

Anyone who has ever tried to create lace patterns from a scattering of dots will confirm that the process of creating an ornament is simply mesmerizing.

Video: the process of painting on glass with acrylic paints

Decorating a plate using the point-to-point technique

The technique of painting plates is not much different from the process of decorating a bottle described above. First of all, thoroughly degrease the surface and transfer the sketch markings to a glass or ceramic surface.

Experienced craftswomen can draw without sketches directly on the plate, inventing patterns as they work. We still recommend that beginning needlewomen think through the artistic concept in advance, choosing ornaments and determining a color palette for themselves.

For the first works, it is most convenient to use transparent glass plates as a base.

A sheet with a sketch of the design motif is placed under the plate, and then the contours are drawn point by point

Before you start painting, practice creating outlines on paper from small and large dots, placing them at the same distance from each other.

It is better to start drawing contours from the center of the plate, gradually moving to its edges

To prevent the design from accidentally shifting during work, it is better to temporarily glue the cut out template to the back of the plate using adhesive tape or tape.

Draw according to the principle “from general to specific”: starting with drawing large contours and ending with elaboration of small details

When creating lines, maintain such a minimum distance between points so that they are clearly “readable”, but do not merge into a solid line

If drawing from tubes is difficult for you, draw dots with a toothpick or needle

The choice of shades and their alternation depends only on your imagination and the chosen pattern.

The paint applied to the plate must harden

At natural conditions the paint hardens within 24 hours. To speed up the process, dry the surface with a hairdryer and leave the decorated plate for 10-12 hours. After the paint has completely dried, all that remains is to fix the design with varnish.

Video master class: painting accessories using the “point to point” technique

Having mastered the technique of dot painting, you can easily bring your ideas to life, developing the makings of an artist. Decorative elements created with your own hands will become a source of pride for the kitchen owner and a worthy decoration of the interior.
